Few pinclans outside of Merge have heard of the Dragons. Physically, they are very large, though the existence of a Dragon giant gene has been disputed for ages. Their skin is similar to the dark reddish-brown of Eastern Harijavan Tigers' skin and they tend to wear excessive amounts of clothing for their dry warm-to-moderate climate. Dragons have relatively small immediate families as pinclan families go, yet live as one big family in tribes with cousins of extreme relational distance. An immediate family lives together in a large canvas tent while a tribe is a small gathering of perhaps a dozen of these tents.
Dragons have very little in the way of technology and obtain most technological commodities from communities of the nearby Dragonfly clan. Some of these commodities are goods made of metal and solar-powered broadcast radio receivers which they obtain by trading wicker baskets, earthen wares, and small quantities of freshwater fish. Dragonfly also will trade with Dragons for small services, like sword lessons and Dragon tongue lessons for intersted parties.

The sword culture of the Dragons is said to have come from a much older form of the Dragonfly culture of which there are few records. Dragon tradition has it that they were once members of a cat clan that felt that they were born in the wrong clan and nearly tried to become Dragonfly. The closest cat clan to the Dragon peninsula is the Cougar clan, which has similar physical characteristics and related linguistic elements. Though a direct connection between the two clans has never been successfully proven, the common belief is that the Dragons and Cougars were once members of the same clan.
Since the Dragons settled the plains of the Dragon peninsula to the east of Dragonfly land, they have been in frequent contact with the Dragonfly for trade and cultural exchange. According to sparse old Dragonfly records, Dragon numbers haven't changed much except for the time that an almost legendary hero, Xemur, who was born a Dragonfly but grew up with the Dragons, raised a Dragon army that waged a relatively short war on the Dragonfly. Before this war, Dragon population had reached an all-time peak, not even counting the numbers of Dragons who had intermarried with Dragonfly. But afterwards, a big societal change took place in Dragonfly society, Dragon relations were strained to the extreme. Racism, hate, and bigotry towards Dragons swelled in Dragonfly society which had previously almost never heard of such things. Even people with Dragon ancestry had to be careful. Many Dragonfly tried to disguise their Dragon characteristics which later led to some new jewelry and makeup fads.
Fortunately for all of Pii, the days of racism from the Dragonfly against Dragons are coming to an end. Though there are still many who would see Dragons persecuted to their end, pro-Dragon activist numbers are rising. There are now at least five Dragon-descendant communities among the Dragonfly, compared to just one two generations ago. These communities attempt to breed out Dragonfly characteristics so that their descendants can be proud of their heritage and choose to live with the Dragons at a later time. A return-to-simplicity movement has begun to catch on among growing numbers of Dragonfly, including ones without Dragon roots, where they are trying to promote living as the Dragons do now, with little outside communication or technology. These groups are also trying everything they can to preserve modern Dragon life.
As for the Dragon view of the Dragonfly efforts, they are resistant to any sort of control--change or preservation from change--as they always have been, but are greatful for support. They encourage the spreading of knowledge of their culture and society, but they don't want anyone to invade on their privacy. Support from all clans is encouraged, so send your order for a Dragon-made ceramic mug today!
